I suppose I should clarify my feelings about public education after what I wrote in yesterday’s blog. I am a strong a supporter of public education and the role the NEA and AFT play in making public education great. If anyone is at all interested in this seemingly large contradiction they can ask and I will try to explain.
I went suit shopping yesterday. As I mentioned, my brother is getting married in Las Vegas soon and Georgia and I are going to the wedding. I had a flowered shirt, shorts, sandals with black socks and a straw hat with a green transparent visor all laid out and ready to pack for the wedding when my brother told me the wedding was not going to be in the Elvis Chapel or the Tunnel of Love Drive-Through Wedding Chapel. And he was going to wear a suit!
I’m not quite two-seats-on-the-plane size but I did have some trouble finding something in my size and didn’t cost as much as the trip to Las Vegas. No luck at Kohls, Sears had three suits… not three styles, but three suits. There were big empty areas in the store. I asked if they were going out of business, but the lady assured me they weren’t. She explained there had been a lot of weddings and funerals lately. Next I went to J. C. Penny’s. What luck. I found a black suit that I can wear to funerals and weddings! For my brother’s wedding in Las Vegas I will wear the black suit, a black shirt, white tie, black shoes and the same black socks I had already planned to wear. To complete the ensemble I plan to wear a pair of dark sunglasses. I’m da man!
