Office of the Governor
207 State House
Springfield, IL 62706
Dear Governor Quinn,
I return this shirt. Once I wore it with pride. Now it is an embarrassment.
For most of my adult life I strongly protested blaming the government for any of our problems. I would correct those blaming politicians, quoting Lincoln, “(ours is a) government of the people, by the people, (and) for the people.” I believed in our government - not a true democracy, but a Republic that respected the needs of minority groups.
I will not repeat here all the things I have said in past email and calls, but will briefly summarize them. I am very upset with the state’s acceptance of NCLB and of its implementation. I have no doubt it has hurt the education of our children. I am very upset with new laws that break promises to public teachers. I am greatly upset about changes in health care for state retirees. Contrary to your statements about health care changes not lowering the health care of state workers, I know my health care in Central Illinois will be greatly diminished.
Sincerely,
Nick Dalrymple
