As IIf you see me walking on the KRT using these, I don’t use them because I’m old and crippled. I use them to build upper body strength. Walking on the KRT is good for my body and soul. As I was walking, I watched two Goldfinches flying in formation. I came home and wrote this: Today’s Walk on the KRT Goldfinch with his wing man Bounces high above the prairie. Toad sleeping in the sunshine Awakes, looking very ordinary. Indian grass, big blue stem Bunches sway in the breeze. Partridge Pea, Bergamot Awaiting for the bees, A helmeted man peddling by Bends low, going fast. Two joggers and a walker Always let him past. 74 degrees F., 87% humidity, 11 mph wind, Time 7:45-8:45 AM, July 16, 2019 Headed East. Starting South. Corn is tasseling, more green on the old Traction Line bed, then the KRT. Take a slow walk. Look, shades of green, high and low with scattered patches of yellows, whites in different sizes and shapes; purples, blues, and pinks. Cat tails, cars headed to work and home. Houses and fields. A truck goes by. A bicyclist in bright Lycra, with her head low, zips safely past. Take a slow walk on the KRT. Listen to your favorite oldies or to the variety of birds, frogs, insects and wind.
