Schadenfreude ( i /ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə/; German pronunciation: [ˈʃaːdənˌfʁɔʏdə]) is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.
I remember a Twilight Zone (Outer Limits? Science Fiction Theater?) show. A family is packing to leave their bleak home in some Dickens type town (like in “Hard Times”.) You would think they would be happy to get away from such a dismal place, but they are surprisingly sad about leaving. In the end we learn they are aliens living on earth for a time. They have been given a reward for their good deeds. Their home world is much worse than the dismal place they are living in now.
I was telling Georgia about this recurring dream I had again last night. I am in a school where I teach and it is time to start class, but I can’t find my classroom. The school is always different and maze like. I’m sure I know where it is, but I can never find it. The dream ends. Georgia was excited about the dream. She has the same one, but she finds her class, but does not know any of the students.
Quiz:
1. Who shot Liberty Valance?
2. Who wrote RESPECT?
3. What form of government does the United States have?
The mouse trap was tripped last night and upside down. No mouse, less trap. The mouse chewed the corner off the trap. I think if I had slept later this morning the mouse might have eaten the whole trap.
